President Maithripala Sirisena says the government will introduce a new policy for appointments and transfers of school teachers by the end of this year.
“There should not be any teacher shortage at any school under this new policy. We will issue a circular to transfer all additional teachers in schools to the schools with teacher shortages in the country”, he said.
The President was speaking at the ceremony to vest the new building at Muslim Maha Vidyalaya in Sungawila, Polonnaruwa with students yesterday (June 22).
The President said this decision was taken for the betterment of the education of the children of the country. He emphasized no child in this country should lose the benefits of education.
“My responsibility is to solve the problems of every community and serve all people who voted for and against me, without any discrimination”, he said.
The President who arrived in the school was warmly welcomed by the students. He opened the new building by unveiling the plaque and later took an inspection tour.
The school has been developed under ‘Pibidemu Polonnaruwa’ District Program. Sri Lanka Army contributed to the construction work.
Chief Minister of North-Central Province Peshala Jayarathne, Provincial Minister Sampath Sri Nilantha and the District Secretary of Polonnaruwa Ranjith Ariyarathne also participated in this event.
