The newly appointed Secretary to the President, Defense Secretary, Commander of the Army and the Eastern Province Governor were sworn in before President Maithripala Sirisena today (4th July) at the Presidential Secretariat.
Accordingly, Austin Fernando was sworn in as the new Secretary to the President while Kapila Waidyarathne was sworn in as the new Defense Secretary.
Meanwhile, Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake was sworn in as the new Commander of the Army and former Foreign Minister Rohitha Bogollagama was sworn in as the Governor of Eastern Province, a position that became vacant due to the resignation of Austin Fernando.
