Minister of Lands and Parliamentary Reforms and Co Cabinet Spokesman Gayantha Karunathilaka said that no one will be punished until 1st January 2018 as people engaged in the polyethene industry have to find alternatives.
The decision to ban the import, production and use of polyethene of several categories will be implemented from 1st September.
Minister made these comments speaking at the cabinet briefing today (23rd Aug.) at the Department of Government Information.
