President opens National Epilepsy Center

 
epilepsyPresident Maithripala Sirisena vested the Epilepsy Center, built at the National Hospital, Colombo with public yesterday (24th Oct.).
 
 
This was built by the allocations of the government and the Saudi Fund for Development, at a cost of Rs. 4.5 billion.
 
The ten storied National Epilepsy Center is equipped with high-technical equipments and consist of a clinic for neurological disorders, neurological pharmacy, mobile electric stimulation unit, health education unit and a public call center.
 
In addition, a seminar hall is also included in this center to facilitate counseling services for the patients and the family members of the patients. This also provides facilities for DSA, PET and SPECT scanning services. Hundred patients can be provided with accommodation at the Centre while there are free wards and paying ward facilities.
 
The President unveiled the plaque and opened the Epilepsy Center and observed the operation theatre in the second floor. He also registered the first patient.
 

The department assists media in a macro level in welfare, training, policy planning and accreditation, and providing easy access to Government news and information.
