Steps have been taken to pay Rs. 126.96 million to 20294 tea smallholders in Matara District as fertilizer subsidy, said the Tea Smallholdings Development Authority.
There are 172 tea smallholder's unions in 20 Tea Extension Officer's divisions in Matara District and members of 66 unions have been paid the fertilizer subsidy and the rest 106 will be paid shortly.
The subsidy is granted subject to a maximum of Rs. 15000 per acre per a year.
