Naval personnel attached to SLNS Vijayaba in Nilaveli belonging to the Eastern Naval Command arrested 2 local fishermen engaged in illegal fishing practices using monofilament nets in the sea area of Kumburupiddi yesterday (9).Along with the suspects; a dinghy and 2 monofilament nets were taken into naval custody. The apprehended persons and items were handed over to the Assistant Directorate of Fisheries, Trincomalee for further investigations.
